MISSION

The welfare benefits system in Germany is a good thing. It is there to support people in difficult life situations. However, there are many different benefits, different responsibilities and complicated requirements. As a result, people do not know or understand what welfare benefits are available and, above all, which ones they may be entitled to. The Sozialkompass bundles the information, simplifies complicated requirements and refers people to the right contact person. We want everyone to be able to use the Sozialkompass. That's why the content is phrased as simple as possible to make it easy to understand. As a result, we have decided to use only the generic masculine. Nevertheless, we would like to emphasize that the Sozialkompass stands for a fair and equal society.

ORIGIN

Sozialkompass was launched in September 2022 as part of a Information Systems project seminar at the University of Münster. The project seminar kicked off with the #MSHack22 hackathon, in which the Sozialkompass won second place and the mentor prize. Since the successful completion of the project seminar, the Sozialkompass has been further developed by the team on a voluntary basis.
